As I understand bird flu (not very well) according to Senator Frist the danger really is if it mutates from birds to humans. Then we will really be in trouble.

I concur...very similar conversation as the hurricane and preparedness around an event like this.

I'm stealing a quote here, but Uncommon things tend to happen commonly. Individually speaking there is a very small chance that any of these things will happen (bird flu, hurricane, terrorism, etc.) to you, but the chances that just one of them may actually get quite material.

Preparation is the key, because in the short term, you won't have food, water, medical attention and maybe even shelter...

sounds paranoid I know...but for about $200 you can have everything your family needs for a few days...for a few hundred more you can have enough for weeks!

you know Pete I keep thinking back to the hurricanes that hit here in 2004. We were without power for about 9 days after the first storm hit, had people trapped in their mobile homes, trees on homes, trees on cars, etc. No one that lived in our community had any of the supplies that they needed, including water, food, medical supplies. The city wasn't able to help for several days because of widespread damage. We were lucky that local businesses immediately came to communities aid with water, workers, etc. Winn Dixie in particular had their young people in our community for several days helping to clean up, bringing water, even taking people for prescriptions, etc. I hope next time we will all be prepared.

What makes people act the way they do?

With all the recalls associated with Chinese products, do you look at the label now to see where a product is made?

NEW POLL: What percentage of baseball players were taking steriods, HGH or other enhancing drugs (like amphetamines) before the rules changes instituted by MLB?

Which would you prefer?

You're at the Final table of the WSOP. You get dealt 2 Aces. What do you do?
