Rumsfeld resigned before election, letter shows

An interesting twist...

While I always thought that GW asked Rumsfeld to resign it appears that this isn't the case.

Some say that by not announcing the resignation before the election more Republican seats were lost...I would agree with that...

What I can say though is it showed some class waiting...One thing that you can say about George Bush is that he is loyal to his friends...

Sometimes, loyalty can be like an albatross around your neck. I believe in loyalty, but also believe that sometimes you have to work for the common good, and put aside personal relationships. I too believe that had Rumsfeld's resignation been announced before the 2006 election it would have made a difference. However, I also believe that announcing it the day before the election would not have made much of a difference.
